چکیده
The fate of herpes simplex virus (HSV) in the lymphocytes of patients with juvenile chronic arthritis (JCA) was studied by previously described methods. Lymphocytes isolated from blood and joint effusions of 18 patients with systemic JCA and 11 patients with pauciarticular JCA usually supported viral growth normally.

Fate of herpes simplex virus in lymphocytes from inflammatory joint effusions. i. Failure of the virus to grow in cultured lymphocytes.
The ability of lymphocytes isolated from the blood and synovial effusions of patients with rheumatoid arthritis to support the growth of herpex simplex virus (HSV) was studied. Whereas blood lymphocytes supported virus growth, effusion lymphocytes were usually non-permissive. Lymphocytes obtained from the effusions of patients with other forms of inflammatory arthritis or suspected viral arthri...
متن کاملFate of herpes simplex virus in lymphocytes from inflammatory joint effusions. ii. Mechanisms of non-permissiveness.
Mononuclear cells which were isolated from rheumatoid synovial effusions and cultured without prior separation failed to support the growth of herpes simplex virus (HSV). However, subpopulations of T lymphocytes separated on the basis of cell size or receptors for sheep red cells were, in isolation, permissive for this virus. Virus growth in these permissive cells was blocked by cocultivation w...
متن کاملIncreased circulating nerve growth factor is directly correlated with disease activity in juvenile chronic arthritis.
OBJECTIVE To determine the circulating serum concentrations of nerve growth factor (NGF) and compare them with indices of disease activity in juvenile chronic arthritis. METHODS NGF concentrations were evaluated with a two site immunoenzymatic assay (ELISA), in 17 children with systemic, 39 with polyarticular, and 24 with pauciarticular onset juvenile chronic arthritis. Each subset was divide...

Background: Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis (JRA) is the most common chronic pediat-ric rheumatologic disease. There is a wide range of variation in disease subgroup distri-bution and evolution according to different populations, environments and genetic pre-disposition. This study was designed to evaluate epidemiologic characteristics of JRA in Iran. Methods: A cross-sectional studies was perfo...

Background & Objectives: Herpes viruses can cause diseases in the clinical range. The virus can cause infection in various body parts, especially eyes and nervous system. The aim of this study was at evaluating the Real-Time TaqMan probe PCR in diagnosing and monitoring of the patients with suspected HSV infections.Materials & Methods: More than a thousand patients with suspected HSV infection...
